In line with the Vision of His Excellency Senator Monday Okpebholo, the Edo State Ministry of Education under the visionary leadership of Dr Paddy Iyamu has embarked on a transformative campaign titled “PROTECT THE GIRL CHILD,” which aims to combat sexual abuse and other societal vices against young girls in the state. This initiative underscores the administration’s unwavering commitment to fostering a safe and enabling environment for every girl child in Edo State.
A counseling Department will be created across all schools to educate students on the dangers of gender-based violence and uphold the rights of the girl child. These Department will be led by trained teachers, counselors, and school heads, to ensure timely reporting and address cases of abuse and molestation, creating a protective framework within the educational ecosystem
The leadership of the Edo State Government reflects a profound understanding of the challenges faced by young girls and is poised to strategically address them by developing and integrating policy direction for sustainable progress.
The Ministry of Education is not only raising awareness but also going to be implementing tangible measures to protect, empower and create an enabling environment for all Edo girls to thrive.
